One of the significant fires reported today is the Colorado Fire in Mariposa County near Yosemite National Park. California Fire Today: What Is Happening?
California continues to experience active wildfire conditions, with CAL FIRE maintaining an incident tracker for ongoing fires across the state. The agency cautions that incident information can change as new information is received from firefighters and incident commanders.
Current fire activity includes large wildfires as well as smaller incidents. A current fire-tracking report lists the Plaskett Fire, Timber Fire, Mp18 Fire, Colorado Fire, Daulton Fire, Citrus Fire, Panarama Fire, Border 13 Fire and Circle Fire among active California fires.
Because wildfire conditions can change rapidly, residents should rely on official evacuation instructions rather than social-media posts or unverified reports.
Colorado Fire Near Yosemite
The Colorado Fire is among the major California wildfire developments being reported today.
The blaze is burning in Mariposa County west of Yosemite National Park, near Highway 140 and Colorado Road. Reports indicate that the fire grew rapidly, reaching approximately 250 acres, while threatening dozens of structures.
Evacuation orders and warnings were issued in the Briceburg area, while Colorado Road was closed and Highway 140 was shut down through part of the affected area.
Yosemite National Park itself remained open, although access was restricted because of the Highway 140 closure. Travelers heading toward Yosemite should check current road and park conditions before departing.
Evacuations and Road Closures
Wildfire evacuation zones can change with little notice. Residents in affected areas should immediately follow instructions from local emergency officials.
Road closures can also occur because of flames, smoke, emergency operations or the risk of fire spreading. The Colorado Fire, for example, resulted in a closure affecting Highway 140 near Yosemite.
