Residents in and around Medina, New York, faced a significant severe-weather threat on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, as powerful thunderstorms moved across western New York.
According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, a tornado warning was issued at approximately 6:28 p.m. EDT for parts of eastern Niagara County, Orleans County and northwestern Genesee County. At the time, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Middleport, close to Medina, and was moving southeast at about 35 mph. The warning was based on radar-indicated rotation.
